Long overdue wedding recap - Mr. & Mrs. Jon Drye

I've been meaning to put these up for WEEKS.

A few highlights from one of my dear high school friend's wedding in Charleston.  What a classy, southern affair!

Sadly these are all iPhone pictures...

One of my favorite touches was the gospel choir singing "This Little Light of Mine" when the nieces and nephews walked down the aisle and "Oh Happy Day"  when the new Mr. & Mrs. Drye came back down the aisle!

Loved all the sitting areas with neutral fabrics and french chairs.

Notice dress #2 on the bride!

And then beautiful dress #3!

Such a magical, stunning wedding for such a happy couple.  Congrats, Britt & Jon!!

3 wonderful years and counting

I cannot believe that THREE years ago I married my wonderful husband.

So thankful for the two families that we joined together.

And all the best friends that stood by our side that day and always.

Including the flower dog / dog of honor, Olivia!

Josh- I can't believe that it really does keep getting better and better. Thank you for all the fantastic adventures, laughs and unwavering love.  Cheers to many, many more!  So thankful for the numerous ways God has blessed us and I pray He will continue to do so.

I'm sorry that for your anniversary present I couldn't magically make this cake reappear.

All my love,
Whittles

A few more pictures from last year's anniversary post here.

PS - Wedding pics from the gorgeous weddings we attended the last two weekends coming today!

Powder Room Inspiration: Black, off-white & gold

Inspiration Board I created for our future powder room:

Things I actually own (the reality!):

Wallpaper sample hanging in my current bathroom to show the true scale:

The wallpaper is Osborne & Little's Best in Show -- it is flocked (for amateurs like me...I learned yesterday that means the dogs are velvety feeling, not the fact that there are a "flock of dogs" ha!).

Be honest -- should I go for it or is it too busy and wild?  I think I love it, but am getting myself a little nervous and wallpaper is an investment so I don't want to get tired of it.

XO,
Whit

PS- Just need one more follower to make 50 -- help a girl out! :)

Shrimp Tacos

I've said it time and time again -- God blessed me with many talents, but cooking isn't one of them.  I would probably get an A- in recipe following, but coming up with inventive ideas isn't really my strength (only my mom and middle sister got that gene!).  This was a compilation of "recipes" and that's as close as I'll get to inventive.  However, it was absolutely delicious so please try it.

I know I want to be healthy.  I know to be healthier I should consume more fish -- but does anyone else get grossed out when they cook fish at home?  Maybe I just have an easy gag reflex, but it seems like it's either off the charts good or I want to spit it in the trash.  Anyone, anyone??  And I know my fresh seafood market isn't to blame.

This was deluxe though...no gagging from this girl.  The hubs and sister quite enjoyed it too...AND I even licked my plate over the leftovers during lunch the next day.

Shrimp Tacos
1 lb. peeled and deveined shrimp
3 T honey
1.5 T sriracha hot chili sauce
1/4 c. olive oil
S & P
1 chopped avocado (I seasoned with lime juice and Crazy Jane's Sweet Lime Pepper)
Fresh Pico de Gallo
Shredded cheese (we used 5 cheese Mexican)
Light sour cream mixed with taco seasoning (to taste)
Taco shells - crunchy or soft

Marinate shrimp in honey, sriracha, olive oil and S&P for a few hours (I got this idea of ingredients from WayWay of Blue Chickadee) and then grill.  This shrimp was so delicious I don't know I'll ever want to cook it another way.  It would be great on numerous salads including this one.  I will say, I'll probably do a little more sriracha next time to spice it up a little more, but be careful -- that stuff is HOT.

Top tacos with chopped, seasoned avocado, "taco seasoned" sour cream, pico de gallo and shredded cheese.  Enjoy!

Just got home from a fun dinner with a few of my fave Myers Park girls -- so happy to have them in Raleigh with me!

XO,
Whit

Weekend Recap: Stereotypical married weekend

We had the perfect, boring, married person weekend.  Just what I needed after a long run of on-the-go, overly social weekends.

We picked up a few great steals from Studio123 -- a couch for the screen porch and a chest to be transformed into sink vanity for powder room (inspiration board to come later this week).

Don't be insulted if you aren't invited to dinner at our house anytime soon.  Our dining room now looks like a storage unit.  We'll be glad to meet you out or come to your house. :)

Josh is majorly obsessed with golf right now.  He is trying to get me into it one way or another...

I baked a Swiss chocolate cake for a friend at McKinney, Buzz.   I won the "buzzness" award and am very proud of my trophy.

We grilled out with Rachel & Todd.  Rachel is such a hostess!

And we spent lots of time brainstorming and doing stuff for the house.  Here are some updated pics of the inside -- this week is all about finishing the dry wall.
